Wayne Mark Rooney born on 24th October 1985 in Croxteth, Liverpool, England. He made is Man Utd debut on 28th September 2004 against Fenerbahçe S.K. of Turkey scoring a hat-trick during the game that was won 6-2. The transfer fee paid to his previous club Everton was £31 million after a bidding war between Newcastle United and Manchester United. Rooney had been signed to Everton as a schoolboy at just aged 10. In his first season with Man Utd, he received two awards: the PFA and the FIFPro young player of the year awards. He now wears the number 10 shirt vacated by Ruud Van Nistlerooy’s departure in 2006.

He became the youngest player to be capped for England on 12th February 2003 against Australia at just 17 and 111 days. Theo Walcott has since broken that record by just 36 days. Rooney's first goal for England was against Macedonia on 6th September 2003 at the European Championship qualifying match.
